Mum would bring it out on a cold Winter night just when we had all forgotten about it. It will warm up any tummy and even though it\u2019s not the most appealing to look at, it will be a hit at any dinner party!<\/p>\n<h3>Ingredients<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>6 Large Croissants cut in halves<\/li>\n<li>1 cup of dark good quality chocolate grated<\/li>\n<li>6 eggs<\/li>\n<li>1 cup of caster sugar<\/li>\n<li>A few drops of natural vanilla essence<\/li>\n<li>250ml thickened cream<\/li>\n<li>800ml full cream milk<\/li>\n<li>Cream, Yoghurt or Ice-Cream to serve<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Steps<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Preheat oven to 170 degrees.<\/li>\n<li>Grease a 25cm cake tin; springform if possible\u2026 ( don\u2019t make the mistake I did and use a tin where the bottom comes out\u2026 the liquid will leak through!)<\/li>\n<li>Slice the croissants lengthways and fill the tin with one layer (see photo). Sprinkle the croissant layers with \u00bc of the grated chocolate and repeat this process 4 times\u2026 keeping a little chocolate aside for the very end.<\/li>\n<li>Whisk eggs, sugar and vanilla essence in a bowl.<\/li>\n<li>Bring milk and cream to the boil in a saucepan stirring constantly.<\/li>\n<li>Add the hot liquid to the egg mixture and whisk rapidly to combine.<\/li>\n<li>Pour mixture over the croissants and gently expel any air by pressing down on the cake.<\/li>\n<li>Sprinkle remaining chocolate over the top.<\/li>\n<li>Cook for 30 \u2013 45mins according to your oven, or until firm to touch.<\/li>\n<li>Allow to cool for up to an hour in the tin.<\/li>\n<li>Dust with icing sugar and serve warm with cream, yoghurt or ice-cream.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bbprdv2.bellabuy.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/crossaintcake1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-344\" title=\"crossaintcake\" src=\"http:\/\/bbprdv2.bellabuy.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/crossaintcake1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"555\" height=\"487\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bellabuy.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/crossaintcake1.jpg 555w, https:\/\/bellabuy.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/crossaintcake1-300x263.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 555px) 100vw, 555px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bbprdv2.bellabuy.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/signoff-n.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-217\" title=\"signoff-n\" src=\"http:\/\/bbprdv2.bellabuy.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/signoff-n.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"151\" height=\"54\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bellabuy.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/signoff-n.png 151w, https:\/\/bellabuy.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/signoff-n-150x54.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 151px) 100vw, 151px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This delicious, yet simpe Chocolate Croissant Cake has been a favourite in our family for years.
