Cardboard Box Car

My obsession with all things recycled doesn’t look like it will be going away any time soon! This cardboard box car was quick and easy (once I’d actually decided how to put it together) – and it really delivered hours of entertainment.

All I used was 3 large boxes, 5 paper plates and some gaffer tape. Oh, and scissors – of course I used those.

Steps

  1. Lay the three boxes out side by side, with the outside boxes upside down
  2. Cut 3 edges of the inside box, and fold the piece up as shown in the image below
  3. Tape around the entire car with gaffer tape, and use extra tape to hold the boxes together
  4. Attach the paper plate wheels and steering wheel with tape

I’ve been wanting to make the kids some toys for quite some time, and for a first attempt it’s encouraging to see the joy on their little faces.

I have a few more kids projects on my to-do list – if only I had an endless supply of secondhand goods and time.

So, what do you think?
